Car making has defined Mladá Boleslav on the Jizera river since the days of Laurin & Klement, the forerunner of Škoda, whose story is told at the Škoda Museum. Above the river stands a castle with a museum, and the old town has a Renaissance town hall. The sandstone rock towns of the Bohemian Paradise are close by.
