Perched on a rocky bank above the Dyje, Znojmo is the centre of a well-known wine-growing area near the Austrian border. Beneath the old town runs an extensive network of underground passages, and the castle grounds hold a Romanesque rotunda with wall paintings. Podyjí National Park, with its hiking and cycling trails, starts right outside town.
