Pilsen Region
The Pilsen Region in southwestern Bohemia is world-famous for its brewing industry. The regional capital, Pilsen (Plzeň), is the birthplace of the Pilsner Urquell lager.
The southern and western parts of the region are formed by the untouched nature of the Šumava and Bohemian Forest (Český les) mountains, which are ideal for hiking and cycling. The region also boasts many Gothic and Baroque monuments.
